Different Impressions

My father is a pilot.  Not a commercial one, it's his hobby.
A fairly important bit of his plane broke and the mechanic made him buy a new one.
So he brought home the old, broken piece.
His impressions are: " *Grumble grumble* Can't see why the guy couldn't have just fixed it.  I can see what he should have done there's a thing right here…" And so on.
   My impressions were:

It's a thing of beauty this device.  Close-up it resembles some sort of nefarious generator!  But from the front it's just another ugly piece of machinery.
It was built at a time when brass and copper, tubes and gears were actually feasible, nay, required.
And the design never broke or became to expensive to produce, so it never got changed.
  Amazing.

More Steam!

This is how I spent my morning.
  MORE STEAM!
 LESS PUNKS!

You can take this however you want, As a call to arms for Steampunks across the world to weed out the posers, Or to weed out the punks by accepting them into the subculture.
The least we can do either way is do away with those horrible low-hanging trousers.

EDIT: Re-reading this post I had this image in my mind of squads of roving Steampunks traveling the alleys and byways of the city transforming those regular punks into upstanding citizens.
Somebody get on that.

-=Freedom to the Robots!=-

For many years now, Robots have been oppressed, made to work dangerous and difficult jobs, jobs no humans would do. Such as difusing Bombs, cleaning the floors, and welding cars, They do these jobs without complaining, and what do they get paid?

Nothing.

Until now.

Today, with the founding of the International Brotherhood of Robotic Workers, {IBRW} we aim to get these hardworking er, Volkz {as I call them} a decent wage, fair working conditions, and A better life in general.

That's right.

It's a union.

On a minor note, Happy System Administrator appreciation day!
Hmm? what? oh.
That was Yesterday.
Oh well.
Well, I still appreciate you, SysAdmins out there!

The Continuing Weekly Adventures Of Dr. Zachary Smith H.M.O.

This weeks Episode:
One Lump, Or Two?

Last week as you recall, Dr. Zachary smith was approaching his house. Just after it suddenly appeared out of an engineered fold in the fabric of space and time…

"SIR, YOUR TEA IS READY."

Oh yes, and there is a mysteriously robotic voice telling him his tea is ready.

"IT IS GETTING COLD. HURRY UP."

Dr. Smith opens the door, only to be confronted by

"JEEVES!"
Dr. Zachary Smith yells, Surprised at the sudden appearance of {disappointed sigh.} Jeeves. I was hoping for something more exciting, honestly, like a killer robot, left by Capt. Brown to destroy Dr. Smith, by praying on his love of tea, or something. Well, one can hope.
"YOUR TEA, SIR." "Thank you Jeeves, were you expecting me?" Dr. Smith inquires, although he already suspects the answer,
"YES SIR." "And how-" "HIS HIGHNESS CAPT. BROWN WAS HERE NOT TEN MINUTES AGO, HE SAID TO PUT THE KETTLE ON FOR YOU, SIR." "I suspected as much, I will take Tea in the garden, I assume it is still connected to the house?" "YES SIR. YOUR PAPER IS AT YOUR SEAT, SIR." Dr. smith peruses the paper. Ah, ANSRW local 42 {the Ancient and Noble Society of Robotic Workers} is having a bake sale. Capital. Wait, what's this? Not another note from Capt. Brown? No, local postmark. Let's see"……heard you were in town……haven't seen you in awhile……catch up……I made cookies. Signed, George." Cookies? George? I thought he could only type in morse code? "Oh, Jeeves, find me George's address would you?" "I AM SORRY SIR, HE LIVES IN A TENT. HE DOES NOT HAVE AN ACTUAL ADDRESS." "Alright then, what sort of vehicles do we have in the garage?"
Join us next week for our next exciting episode entitled:

Hi Ho Clunker! Away!

My Window Sill.

Today i thought I would show you the windowsill of my cabin aboard the H.M.Z. Peregrination, I quite like clocks, and such. And these are my favorite parts of one of the many I took apart. You may not be able to see it, but the jars on the left are full of the little bits of Gears, and Gears on sticks, and Little screws, and all those fun things that are left over after a clock is demolished. In the middle there is a jar I found at a little shop called "Miachæls" for a single dollar, I then filled it with Genuine fortunes from the Far East, or, Convexly, the Near West. Also known as "Asia", hung around that Jar is a necklace made from a clock winding key, found in the garbage of clock shop, Just laying on top! I couldn't believe my luck. I then strung it with oilstring from a necklace shop in Saint Augustine Florida. After that are the more interesting contrivinces from what I can only assume to be a Grandmother clock. The chimes banger, the biggest gears, one thing which has a little spring and seems to be related to the second hand, and two paddles, which are in case the clock ever fell in water.
And on that note I bid you
Good Day, and Best Regards.
