First Review: Sky Burger and Scoops

Scoops:

Skyburger:
Disclaimer:
This Reviewer did get these two iPhone apps for free, but I wasn't paid to review them. The reason This Reviewer didn't have to pay for his iPhone Apps was because of a crazy deal on the App Store. {100% off, for one day only} Nimblebit probably doesn't  even have any idea This Reviewer {or this website, for that matter} even exists.

 Review:
         First off, this Reviewer would like to Apologize for the terrible formatting of this post.  It's really hard to format things in the Blogger Post editor.  This Reviewer would also like some sort of offline editor, or some way to plug in a
.pages or .word document, but Blogger probably isn't even listening to this Reviewer whinge. So enough of that, down to the review.  First:

Scoops:

The Idea is to catch all the scoops of iced cream while avoiding the vegetables. Sounds simple right? Well, It is.  And in the greatest tradition of really fun games, it's easy to learn, but really hard to master. You move your stack from side-to-side by tilting your iPhone {or iPod touch} or you could choose to turn on the touch option, but that's a bit clunky. For every Vegetable you catch, you lose a star. You can regain stars {and stave off failure} by catching these special starred "Scoops".  For your each"Scoop" you catch, you get Points, along this table:

Scoops----Points
1st≈50
2nd≈150
3rd≈427
4th≈610
----------

But for every scoop you miss you lose points

Scoops----Points
1st=80
2nd=80
3rd=80
4th=80
----------
You don't lose points for catching Vegetables, you lose stars, When all the stars are gone, you lose. now this all sounds very complicated, but it isn't really. When this reviewer was playing "Scoops" he didn't even notice any of that stuff, no, he noticed how the background changes the higher you go.  Oh? you thought it stopped once you got to the top of the screen?

Oh No, none of that.

First you come to the city,

Then the sky

Space;

Then Mars, then Jupiter, which is the highest I've This Reviewer has gotten, but for this test this reviewer could only get as high as the moon.

Result:

"Scoops" is a great little game, easy to learn, hard to master. It has a great visual style, and it'll keep you coming back to it for just a couple of minutes, waiting in line and such. And If you have to take a call, or your order is up, it'll save your spot so that when you come back you haven't lost all you hard work.

Company: Nimblebit.com
Price:1.99$USD
Recommendation: Don't buy it right away,  wait until a deal presents itself. Unless of course if you have two extra dollars.

SkyBurger

Built along the same lines as "Scoops" this neat little game also by Nimblebit sets you up as an entry-level employee of the MacDonalds-esqe HamBurger place.

You start out every "Level" with an new "Order" this tells you which ingredients you should catch.

Catch every ingredient and you get a hefty tip, catch a wrong ingredient and you lose one percent of said hefty tip. when all your ingredient are caught grab a top bun, and you win that burger.  Symbolically, of course. All you really get is a better "Paycheck" which is just another way to say "points".   If you catch a top bun before the Burger is done, however, you start back at burger one. usually a different burger one each time, but still a burger one.  In the background you can see the burger joint you own, it starts out as a cart, and this Reviewer has only gotten as far as a building. it changes up with every succession of rank.  This Reviewer started out as a rank 1  {junior burger-flipper," and now he is on rank 3 {asst. Manager} It stands to reason that the background changes the higher you go, but This reviewer has only gotten as far as the tops of the buildings. Every once in awhile you get a "SkyBurger" which is basically a free play.  The higher your rank the more free plays in a row you get. {Exempli Gratia, "Jake" is Rank 3, so he gets three free plays in a row}

 Result:
"SkyBurger" Is a great little game, like "Scoops" it's a casual game that is easy to learn hard to master and quite hard to put down.

Company: Nimblebit.com

Price: 1.99 USD
Recommendation: If you liked "Scoops" but want a bit more detailed gameplay? then Pick up Sky burger.

The Continuing Weekly Adventures Of Dr. Zachary Smith H.M.O.

This Weeks Episode:
Episode #38: Act Three. Enter Villain.  Exit Hero.
-=-
Last week as you recall, I left you with a bit of a cliff hanger, As I recall I was saying;
 -=-
NO! I can't Be! It's Dr. Smith!
-=fig. 174: Dr. Smith?=-
-=-
Indeed it is Dr. Smith, But there is one major difference Between this Dr. Smith, and our Hero: where our Hero, the real Dr. Smith, is good, this Dr. Smith is evil.  In fact, this Dr. Smith is the exact opposite of the real Dr. Smith, at least character-wise.  To be his true opposite, this Doppelgänger would have to be extraordinarily stupid, but he isn't.  In fact he is as smart as The Real Dr. Smith.  But unfortunately the amount of evil contained in his body forces his clothes to take on a dark shade, so no matter what he wears, it will turn black with time.   Dr. Smith, still chained to the slab can't see what's going on over to his left.  but before he passes out he struggles against his restraints, turns his head and through half-working eyes sees this:
-=fig. 175: Through half-working eyes=-
-=-
He then passes out.
-=-
Hours pass.
-=-
Traveling through multiple dimensions without an unspecified number of day's worth of rest really takes it out of you.
-=-
So does having your brain raided for Dopplegänger material.
-=-
But when Dr. Smith Finally does awake,  he is refreshed and ready to…Whoops, forgot about the chains.  But Dr. Smith, the product of a wasted childhood {When all the other kids were being arrested, he was reading books} Knows exactly what to do in this situation, and a quick search of his pockets reveals:
1. A modified Swiss army knife {Now with laser, pocket compass, and pliers!}
2. A pocket-sized lock-pick set, gifted to him by his estranged uncle Edward
3. The key to his front door,
4. A hair pin.
He decides to use the hair pin on the locks, but they are down by his feet.  So he decides that, even though it feels like cheating, he will just use his Swiss-Army knife the cut through the chains.  He was really looking forward to picking the lock too.  But a laser is as good an escape method as any.  Having successfully escaped from his dire fate, Dr. smith looks around at the assembled machinery.
-=fig. 176: The Control panel=-
-=-
Dr. Smith examines the control panel, "Hey Mr. Narrator, any one else here?" he says, quietly.   No Dr. Smith, Just you and me.  "Good, you warn me if anyone is coming."   Sure.   Dr. Smith examines the control panel closer, squinting a little.  Suddenly the arrangement makes sense.  "Von BadGuy is Left-handed!  I see! this goes here then there's this bit…"  Ripping bits of machinery seemingly at random, Dr. Smith continues to mutter to himself.  "Shoddy workmanship, really,  I would have put this bit here, then there's no point for this whole section.  How did he even control this thing? there's no…  Wait, There it is.  But half of it's In Backwards!"  It's at this point that Dr. Smith rolls up his sleeves, pulls open his suitcase, and roots around for his favorite wrench.  "Let's do this right." He says.
-=fig. 177: Let's do this right=-
-=-
30 Minutes later the infernal machine is superficially the same, but internally it is humming along at twice it's normal operating speed.   Dr. Smith slams levers and pushes buttons at lightning speed, and there is a smell of ozone in the air.  Lightning jumps from the control panel to the glass box beside it,
-=fig. 178: Nothing Happens=-
-=-
Nothing Happens.   Why is Nothing Happening?   Dr. Smith hits the Control Panle with his wrench and the glass box Explodes!  Dr. Smith throws himself to the ground, covering his head with his arms in the standard "Exploding Object" Maneuver.  Now Standing in the wreckage of the glass box are Capt. Brown and his Rooftop Police.
-=fig. 179: The Standard "Exploding Object" Maneuver=-
-=-
The rooftop police stared for a moment, with the expressions of people who suddenly, and through no action of their own, are now in a new environment.  Two of them, despite being in heavy winter gear, started to make a fire.  Dr. Smith gets up and brushes imaginary dust off his clothes.
 "hello James, that was awfully dramatic."  "What are we doing in the Rather Large Blank Spot Zachary?" Capt. James Brown asks, carefully.  Dr. Smith takes a minute to think this one over,  "Well, the evil Count Villiam Von TipRău {Fifth count of Ţara Bârsei} has cloned me and now plans to take over Legopolis forcibly."  Capt. Brown Thinks this over.  Notice he doesn't scoff or act incredulous, for he knows Dr. Smith, And Knows that he would never lie.  "What does this Clone look like?" He asks.
"It's More of a Dolppelgänger, really. He looks just like me, but with a black hat, pants, and suitcase."  Capt. Brown nods, and says "We would be honored to help you track down this Doppelgänger of yours, Wouldn't we lads?" This last bit he shouts over his shoulder at the encamped rooftop police.  A chorus of "Right!"  Rings back, and one whispered "Whaddhesay?" and another "Dunno, but he's the boss."   "Alright everyone, stand back! I'm gonna open 'er up." Everyone except Dr. Smith shuffles away from the control panel, and once everyone is safe, Dr. Smith Pulls a Switch.
-=fig. 180: Dr. Smith Pulls the switch=-
-=-
The very fabric of reality wobbles as the Giant red machine {Controlled By Dr. Smith} Fires A blinding Beam of Light at the  "Wall" of the R.L.B.S.  Once the machine cools off, Capt. Brown Yells at the assembled Rooftop Police, "Alright you GroundLubbers, Attack formation 45a,  Battle of Income Taxes variation!"
They Burst through the new hole, armed to the teeth.
-=fig. 181: They Burst through the new-found hole in reality=-
-=-
Something is Very, Very, Wrong.
-=-
"CLEAR!"  Yells a member of the L.C.R.P {Legopolis City Royal Rooftop Police, It's easier in abbreviation} It is Clear, In fact.  Very, Very, Clear.  The Members of The L.C.R.P.  Make their way to key points along the street, practically disappearing into thin alleys.  Dr. Smith and Capt. Brown bring up the rear, and are met with a deafening Silence.
-=fig. 182: Practically disappearing into thin alleys=-
-=-
There are no sounds.  No Birds Sing. No crickets Chirp.  No people talk.  No cars go past.
-=-
Nothing.
Except the sound of Dr. Smith And Capt. Brown's footsteps and whispered conversation.  We swing the camera over that way, slowly.
-=fig. 183: No Sound at all=-
-=-
Dr. Smith, Feeling he had to say something, says: "Quiet Isn't it?" That was an understatement.  "Where Did the Colors Go?" Asks Capt. Brown.  Dr. Smith Just shakes his head sadly. "I Don't Know, this is much worse than I thought."  An Idea, Flying through the air at great speed, Hits Dr. Smith's Left ear,  travels through his anterior auricular branches and speeds towards his brain region.  His Mind, a seasoned professional, had already rigged up a net for just such an occasion.  Dr. Smith Brightens up.  "We Need to get to my house quickly."  He says.
-=fig. 184: Dr. Smith's House=-
-=-
"It Is Here!  I Knew It!" Dr. Smith says, elated. "What's so special about your house Zachary?" Capt. Brown Asks.  "The fact that it's here means A. This is the wrong dimension, or B. Jeeves landed it and we have a witness to the whole mess."
They enter through Dr. Smith's front door, and are immediately are presented with…Dr. Smith's kitchen.  And two strange robots.
-=fig. 185: Two Strange robots=-
-=-
Dr. Smith waves his hand in front of the two robots "faces".  Capt. Brown asks, "Who Are these Robots Zachary?  Do you know them?" Dr. Smith shakes his head, "No, I've never–" he is interupted by a moan from the backyard.  Dr. Smith and Capt. Brown share a brief glance, before running out to the yard.
  -=fig. 186: Jeeves, Fading fast.=-
-=-
Dr. Smith Finds Jeeves, slumped against the garage wall, Literally fading fast.
"HELLO DR. SMITH.   THANK THE MAKER YOU ARE HERE."
-=-

Chattanooga Tennessee Thursday October 1 2009-Friday October 9 2009

I'm only getting around to this now, as we're leaving, but we are in Chattanooga Tennessee.
And we have been since Thursday October 1 2009.

We {The Crew and I} Went to the local aquarium;

For some reason there were quite few abandoned bridges, most of which didn't actually go anywhere.

I Have a subscription to the Mote Aquarium, which belongs to the "National Association Of Zoos And Aquariums"  Which Lets us get in free, the ætherweb site of the Tennessee Aquarium says they belong to the N.A.Z.A. too.  But according to the teller, they don't. So we had to pay.

It Had Better be worth it.

Right away there's this giant picture of a stream, or something.

Or maybe a small River, but only from one side, and as you walk down the passage, it changes!

First Off you go downstairs, past the boats:

And the Old Lady with a parrot:

It was really neat-o.

All sorts of fish:

Leafy Ones.

Nosy Ones.

Even some fugitives from Justice!

But this Aquarium didn't just have fish, it also had some Butterflies;

This Poor little bugger Guy broke off that jaged part of his wing whilst attempting a jailbreak.  I don't see why, really, the Conservatory was quite nice, lots of flowers and things.

I'd say the Aquarium was quite worth it.

We went to a really good Barbeque place called "Sticky Fingers" go to the one in town, Ask For "Ben"

He's a Relative of mine, tip well.

We also went to {On a different day} a Really Good Thia place,

THIA SMILE
 -=-
I don't usually use bold like this, but Thia Smile is a really good Thai place. the portions are deceptively small, my meal {Which was really good, it had peanut and coconut milk, spice and who knos what esle, all mixed up into this ethnic masterpiece} came in a bowl no larger than your standard cereal bowl:

But even though I was starving, and even though it was truly delicious, this is how much was lft when I was done;

We more stuff than just this, but this is all that jumps out at me at the moment.  Oh, one more thing: we walked all around the town, My Aunt Being our guide; We went over this bridge:

And walked around the town on the other side.

A little story from today, we went over to Said Aunts house for dinner, and when we were done, we watched "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button" {O.K., nothing to write about.}  But My Aunt has this cat, Quite Nice, in a cat sort of way.

Well, halfway through the movie, {And the Lights are down, for the whole "Movie theatre" Experience} I'm sitting on the couch, Legs extended to the ottoman, and The Cat jumps up onto my leg* {From the ground, as cats do. You know the whole "I'm A Cat You're a Piece of furniture" thing} Well, you see I'm Not used to Cats.

So I Flinched.

And as The Cat slid off my leg and to the ground,** I caught Her eye, it said: "Oh, God. this is not how this is supposed to work out."  so she scrambled madly and let go,*** Embarrassed that She slid. I got a good kick out of that. ****

I felt like an idiot too, every time that cat came over and said "Mow." at me my heat melts.

Just "Mow."  A statement.

You see the cats plan was to use me as a sort of bridge, launching herself at my legs, stalking up past my knee region, and jumping to the couch to put her front paws possessively on My Aunts chest.

"My Human"

*Couch-Bound, as I said, I'm a piece of furniture.

 **Claws extended.  My good pants too.

***I'm Fine, thanks for asking.

****I thought it was hilarious, not that I Kicked the cat.
